CHARM Symposium 3: Transfer and the recording as historical document
Special session on comparing transfers
Royal Holloway, University of London, Egham - 20-22 April 2006
As part of the third symposium a special session on comparing transfers was held. Transfer experts attending the symposium were asked to transfer the same 78rpm 1928 recording of David Devries (1881-1934) singing 'Réverie de George Brown' (Boieldieu, La Dame Blanche) with orchestra, Parlophone R 20069, matrix XXP 6659-ii. In the session the experts explained their approaches and the techniques used to arrive at their respective 'interpretations'.
